Public campground reservations
You can reserve a campsite or check availability at
RECREATION.GOV
Note: It's probably easier to just call the toll free number below instead of using the website.
How to reserve a campsite - Recreation.gov
NOTE: After you click the link above you will see a form.
Enter SHASTA-TRINITY as the "facility name" in the form.
This will give you a list that includes "reservable" campgrounds at Shasta Lake
If the form asks you where the campground is near please select "Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity" from the pull-down menu of options.
After you are shown a list of campgrounds, click on the campround's map link to make sure it's in a location that's suitable. The list may show campgrounds located in areas other than Shasta Lake.
IMPORTANT: When asking the Recreation.gov operator about available camping at Shasta Lake it's best to give a specific campground name.
If you don't have a specific campground in mind, or know any of the names, you can ask about available campgrounds in the "SHASTA-TRINITY" area. You must ask the Recreation.gov operator for "SHASTA-TRINITY" campgrounds because the words "Shasta Lake" and "Lake Shasta" aren't searchable in their database.

(Click the markers on the map to get campground names.)
NOTE: At last check of the Recreation.gov map above, "Bailey Cove" campground was shown on the wrong side of the lake. Unless there was a huge earthquake that I didn't feel, it should be located on the west side of Shasta Lake's McCloud arm.

Public campground info and prices at Shasta Recreation Company
Two of the more popular campgrounds at Shasta Lake are Antlers Campground and Lakeshore East Campground.
These two public campgrounds are located on the Sacramento River arm of Shasta Lake in the town of Lakehead, California. They're both very close to many services and easy to reach from Interstate 5 (i-5).
NOTE: These campgrounds are not located on Wonderland Boulevard as suggested by the address on their Recreation.gov pages. Wonderland Boulevard is the location of Shasta Recreation Company, the company that manages the campgrounds. The written driving directions given by recreation.gov for these campgrounds are correct however.
