Boycott the Shasta EDC
The Shasta EDC (Shasta Economic Development Corporation) is assisting 3M with their proposed Moody Flats Quarry project near Shasta Lake, California. Please boycott Shasta EDC investor companies when possible. Boycott List (PDF)
The Shasta EDC also receives taxpayer funding from our local governments. Shasta County, City of Redding, City of Anderson and City of Shasta Lake all contribute taxpayer money to the Shasta EDC. Despite an apparent conflict of interest, Shasta County officials will be deciding on several permits and zoning changes related to the proposed 3M Moody Flats Quarry project.

I'm 100% against 3M's proposed "Moody Flats Quarry" near Shasta Lake, CA
June 12 , 2010
To: George W. Buckley
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
3M
Dear Mr. Buckley,
I'm 100% against 3M's proposed "Moody Flats Quarry" project near Shasta Lake, California. I will be encouraging our government officials to deny your company the permits and zoning changes needed for quarry operation. If the issue of corporate welfare comes into the picture I will be opposing that also. I'm expecting the corporate welfare "shoe to drop" fairly soon. I hope I'm wrong.
Planning to operate a mine of this size so close to Shasta Lake, the City of Shasta Lake and a National Recreation Area shows great disrespect for our area on many levels. That fact that the 3M property isn't even zoned for this use makes it even more of an insult.
In the meantime, a boycott of 3M products has been launched in response to your company's arrogant plan to destroy one of Shasta County's most beautiful areas. It would be nice to buy real 3M Post-it notes, but I am willing to make a sacrifice for the greater good. I am prepared to purchase and use a knock-off store brand. That shows you how truly committed I am to this cause. (Hopefully they're not actually made by 3M, but you get the point.)

On a more positive note, if you're ever in the Shasta Lake area feel free to give me a call. We can do lunch and I'll show you around.
Sincerely,
Eric A. Cassano
